One of the best times of year to visit wine country is during the Harvest-juicy, wine ready grapes are everywhere and there is an excitement in the air. The Santa Barbara County Vintners' Association holds the annual Celebration of Harvest every October at one of the beautiful wineries in the surrounding wine valleys.
This year it will be held at Rancho Sisquoc winery on Saturday the 10th of October in Santa Maria Valley. Not only will there be hundreds of different wines to sample, but local restaurants and food purveyors will be giving delicious samplings. Live music and a silent auction make this event complete.
Something that I love about this event is that they offer a designated driver ticket, which my group will most definitely be taking advantage of. For only $25 your DD gets to come enjoy the food, music and fun. Regular tickets are $65 and can be purchased here online or you can buy a ticket for $75 at the door.
Lots of wineries have special events with cookouts and live music throughout the weekend, so its the perfect time to explore some of the vineyards in the area. Some of my favorites are Curtis, Margerum and Brander.
So grab some friends and a DD and head up to Santa Barbara to ring in the Harvest, hope to see you there!
